Independence is a city in and the county seat of Montgomery County, Kansas, United States. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 9,483. It was named in commemoration of the Declaration of Independence.

This sister was dedicated in Feb of 1952 by the BSA.  She has the distinct honor of having been rededicated in Feb of 1984 by President Gerald Ford.  She has been refurbished in the past but her seems are showing during our visit with her.
